Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Alexandria Exploration – Kom El Shoqafa & Pompey Pillar

Embark on an unforgettable journey to Alexandria from Cairo, where our dedicated tour guide will meet you at your desired location, as per the agreed pick-up time with our tour operator. Relax in the comfort of a private air-conditioned vehicle as we commence your overnight tour to Alexandria. The drive, including a brief leg-stretching stop, will take approximately 2.5 hours, during which your knowledgeable tour guide will provide captivating historical insights.

Upon arrival in Alexandria, we begin our exploration with a visit to the renowned Pompey’s Pillar. This architectural marvel stands at the heart of the remnants of the Alexandrian Serapeum, a grand temple constructed during the Greek era in Egypt. Built predominantly during the Ptolemaic kingdom, the temple was dedicated to the god Serapis, believed to be the guardian of Alexandria.

Next, we proceed to the magnificent Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, one of the largest Roman catacombs. Originally carved for Pharaonic purposes and later romanized, these catacombs were in use until the late 4th century A.D before being abandoned. Descend the cylindrical water well staircase, approximately six meters in diameter and ten meters deep, to explore the three floors of catacombs.

Following the exhilarating historical excursions, we head to the main corniche street overlooking the Mediterranean Sea for a delightful seafood lunch. Indulge in a mouthwatering meal at one of Alexandria’s finest seafood restaurants, accompanied by refreshing lemon mint juice. As you dine, savor the panoramic view of the old harbor. Afterward, we transfer you to your hotel for check-in and overnight stay.

If you desire an evening adventure, our private tour guide is available to accompany you for a leisurely stroll and an opportunity to sample Alexandria’s famous desserts.

Included Meals: Lunch

Day 2: Qaitbay Citadel – Alexandria Bibliotheca

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before meeting your dedicated tour guide and personal driver for another captivating day in Alexandria. Today’s itinerary offers a unique experience distinct from the previous day. We embark on a visit to the Qaitbay Citadel, constructed on the remnants of the ancient Lighthouse Pharos—one of the seven wonders of the world.

Unfortunately, the lighthouse was destroyed by a devastating earthquake during the 6th century, leading to the loss of numerous buildings and monuments in the ancient city. While the exact shape of the ancient lighthouse remains a mystery, the Citadel of Qaitbay was built by Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay, utilizing the solid foundations of the lighthouse to establish a formidable coastal stronghold against the Ottoman Empire.

En route back to Cairo, we make a stop at the modern Library of Alexandria, opened to the public in 1996 with the assistance of UNESCO. While it may never reach the grandeur of the original Library, which was founded in the early 3rd century B.C. by Ptolemy I and expanded by his successor and son, Ptolemy II, the contemporary library remains a remarkable cultural institution.

As we journey back to the capital, we can take a break and enjoy a hot beverage at one of the centrally located rt malls. The approximately two-hour drive allows for relaxation and reflection on the memorable experiences of your Alexandria Overnight tour from Cairo. We sincerely hope you had an enjoyable time.

Tour FAQ

Can I get a refund if I cancel the tour?

The refund policy for canceling a tour can vary depending on the tour company, the terms and conditions you agreed to when booking the tour, and the circumstances surrounding your cancellation. It’s best to refer to our terms and conditions page or contact us to inquire about the refund policy for cancellations.

Can I change the travel date?

In general, it is often possible to change the travel date, but it may be subject to certain conditions and fees. Airlines, for instance, typically offer options to change flight dates, but they may charge a change fee and any difference in fare. It’s important to review the terms and conditions of your ticket or booking and the policies of the airline or travel agency you booked to understand the options available to you.

Similarly, hotels and other accommodations may have different policies regarding date changes. Some may allow free or low-cost changes if made within a certain time frame, while others may have more restrictive policies or charge a fee for modifications.

To determine whether you can change the travel date and the associated costs or requirements, I recommend contacting the airline, hotel, or travel agency you booked with. They will be able to provide you with accurate and up-to-date information based on your circumstances.

Remember, it’s always a good idea to review the cancellation and change policies before making any travel arrangements to understand your options in case of unforeseen circumstances or changes to your plans.

Do I need to apply visa?

Travelers often must obtain a visa before entering a foreign country. A visa is an official document issued by the destination government that permits you to enter and stay for a certain period. Some countries have visa waiver agreements with certain nationalities, allowing visitors to enter without a visa for a specified period. However, this exemption usually has limitations, such as the purpose of travel or the length of stay.

It is important to note that visa requirements can change, so checking for updates before making any travel arrangements is recommended. Allow enough time for the visa to be processed, as it can sometimes take several weeks or even months. You can contact us to help you obtain the visa.
